Illustrated by Ruth Brown
Smudge is a Swaledale lamb who should be happy in the field with his mother and Sally his sister, but he becomes bored with his fellow playmates and decides the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Smudge noses his way under the wire, and is delighted with the exciting world he discovers outside.
I think ages 8 and over would enjoy this book.
